Jim and Tracy’s Exterior Re-Paint
Jim and Tracy’s Exterior Re-Paint
Aug 03I would like to thank Jim and Tracy for allowing iPaint to serve their exterior painting needs in Edmond Oklahoma. IPaint is glad to serve all of Edmond Oklahoma, and it’s paint contracting needs.
When I met with Jim and Tracy to give them an estimate, the first thing they told me was they were unhappy with the color of their home. Their home was painted bright white and it was starting to look very dirty and faded. The color white is not a very outdoor friendly color, especially in Oklahoma where the weather changes constantly. I suggested to them to go with a darker color, so I gave them some sample cards with a list of very popular exterior color choices that would work well with the brick and mortar of their home. Tracy went up to Sherwin Williams to see if she could find a color in between my sample colors, and she found SW2030 Sanderling. It was a perfect match for her home.
- The first step to a great paint job in any application is having a clean solid surface. We walk around the exterior of the home and look for any rotten or weathered wood, and chipping or peeling paint. We then bring it to the homeowners attention and take the necessary steps to correct the problem area’s. In Jim and Tracy’s case they had a door that needed to be replaced, mold and mildew on the gutters, and oxidized paint. So all we need to do is wash the home with a quality soap and kill that mold. When we wash homes we only use Eco-Friendly soaps and low pressure washing. We let the soap do the work along with thorough scrubbing with a soft bristled brush in problem area’s. Beware, high pressure washing can destroy wood and blast out bricks and mortar. Our goal is to give you the longest lasting paint job possible. This is why we take extra care and attention to detail when preparing your home to be painted. After a day of elbow grease and sweat, we finally got Jim and Tracy’s home extremely clean! WoW it’s already starting to look better! Now we wait for the home to dry for at-least one hot summer day. Next we check all area’s with a moisture meter to ins-sure the home is dry enough to except caulk and paint.
- The second step is caulking. Jim and Tracy’s home had never been caulked before so there were gaps and cracks everywhere. We spent one day slowly going around the home and applying a 40 year latex caulk to all gaps and cracks. Talk about tiring, this will do it! After we complete the process we give it a day to cure.
- This third step is masking. Masking is very important so there is no overspray on brink, shingles, windows, plants, furniture, and more….. We cover it all to leave no risk at hand. There are samples in the pictures below.
- The fourth step is applying paint to the properly prepared surface. We normally use a paint sprayer, back-rollers, and paint brushes to give you an even and properly painted surface.
- The last step is doing a walk around with Jim and Tracy. We walk around the home and look for any touchups and make sure they are completely satisfied before they pay us! I told them that if they see any touchups or have any problems for the next 2 years, I will gladly come over and fix the problem for free.
Jim and Tracy’s went from a dirty white and boring home, to a beautifully updated home in just one week! It is amazing how just having the right color can change the curb appeal and value of the home. Updating the exterior of their home was a smart investment. They were so happy with the paint job they plan on having us come back to paint their interior in the winter.
Here are some picture of the start and finish of their home:
