Thanks David for letting us paint your front door. Wow it looks amazing!
When I went to look at David’s front door he told me that the sunlight was eating away the finish and he was tired of dealing with it. His wood front door was stained dark cherry and the finish was peeling and fading away. It was starting to look very bad. He was told that if he put a a new clear coat over the door every year that it would look great for along time. Boy, was he told wrong. I told him I never recommend staining exterior wood unless it is a wood that can withstand the outside weather like cedar. Almost every time I see stained woodwork thats on an exterior it is always fading, peeling, and looking bad. I convinced David that he should let us paint his front door with HIS Ultimate paint and be worry free for a long time. This paint is some of the best exterior paint I have ever worked with and carries a lifetime warranty! David agreed that he wanted to get rid of the stained wood and go with a faux antiqued front door. We used HIS ultimate paint for the base-coat and glaze coat giving ultimate protection from Oklahoma’s weather elements.
The steps we took:
- Laid down drop cloths and masked the entire entryway.
- Sanded down the entire front door and smoothed out the areas that where chipping.
- Completely cleaned the surfaces to rid of any dust.
- Sprayed 2 coats of HIS Ultimate in Deep red and let dry over night.
- Applied HIS Ultimate in black to pinstripe and tone over the red.
- Removed all masking and cleaned up the entryway leaving no trash or paint drips.
